November Flora at the St.Pierre’s

I find it odd it’s already November. Even more odd since our front yard is in bloom!

Our house seems to be the only one with such floral diversity in spite of our lack of effort to keep up with landscaping…

I will be certain to get Grace working on naming these gorgeous flowers that so bless our Florida home. Cherry tomatoes here, a palm tree over there. Some peas and bird seeds. I never dreamed it this good, praises to God almighty!

What is Micro Stock Photography?

Too often when I tell people the type of photography I do, such as stock, they get that look in their eyes as if I had spoken a foreign language.

While stock photography is simply shots of everyday people, objects or structures, micro stock focuses on closeups. Of course there is a lot more to micro stock photography than tight shots or 3 inch thick macro lenses.

Micro Stock is Both Art and Science

Though many micro stock photographers will argue, the basis behind successful micro stock photographs is indeed scientific. I won’t bore you with details, just take my word for it, there is a bunch of measurements and gauging that goes into each micro stock shot.

Believe it or not creativity goes a long way when Micro Stock photography is concerned. In the example above I purposely drew my focal point on the larger microchip which I picked as my epicenter of this circuit board.

Much like stock photography, micro stock can be quite a rewarding endeavor. It has worked well for me to date and am confident micro stock photo sales will continue to generate a steady stream of revenue for years, if not decades to come.

Another spectacular weekend comes to an end in the sunshine state, and I’m sure glad to be back in the saddle folks! This weekend I was blessed to spend a little time working on recent shots, this one is growing on me as one of my favorites…

What makes this shot incredible is not at all the BMW, albeit I love my old 540i but it’s the location where this photograph was captured, Possibly the Largest Privately Owned Photography Studio in Florida that shines through this photo.

Look for more photographic updates in the weeks ahead as Trontin and I endeavor to produce captivating stock photography from what we hope will become the biggest photography studio in Central Florida!

Not Just Another Stool

More time in the studio inspired me to share a trick of the trade about cleaning up photographs of subjects shot over an isolated background. I this case, let’s look at a shot isolated over white…

What’s wrong with this picture? When cutting out the subject to clean up the shadow beneath the stool I realized the floor’s texture prevented me from performing an automated batch procedure. What I did next might very well revolutionize the way photographers clean up their isolated shots.

Clearwater Beach Sunset

Florida beaches are more than top vacation spots, they are among the world’s best beaches. Sparkling white sand contours the Gulf of Mexico out west while Atlantic waves crash along the coarser east coast beaches providing ample pleasure for sunbathers and surfers alike. While water temperatures on the Atlantic side drop significantly during winter months, the Gulf side remains warm enough for swimmers, wind surfers and other hardcore water sport enthusiasts.

Hectic, messy and often dawn right gross, summer on Florida beaches can be quite traumatic with temperatures flirting daily with the 100 degree mark. Add burning hot sand, profanity and under age alcohol consumption and you end up with a recipe for family disaster.

With the holiday break right around the corner, I plan on making the most of our beaches while we can. What’s to do in Central Florida during the winter? I like to go camping at many of the state parks, my favorite is Fort Desoto in St Petersburg, or attend beach worship services, run a 5K and even hit the theme parks at Disney World when attendance is at a minimum. Today, I enjoyed a most spectacular sunset over the very beach I was married on back in 2003, Clearwater Beach, FL.
